The town of Coldstream is 36 kilometres north-east of Melbourne's CBD and as the name suggests its one of the coldest places around Melbourne, with winter temperatures dropping below 0 °C several times in the season.
This kind of weather didn’t stop a group of around 20 of our Melbourne based colleagues from lending their green thumbs to make a difference.
Lauren Trewin Montrose and Coldstream Quarry Manager organised the day of tree planting and team building for the area around our Coldstream Quarry.
The team planted 300 trees across the area with colleagues from Finance, Health and Safety, Asset Management, Sales, Quarry Managers and our Drill and Blast team.
As well as 300 trees the team also assembled and installed tree guards to help protect the young trees from animals and the elements. And by all accounts its looks like they had a lot of fun doing it.
Duncan Harris, GM Quarries Victoria said “We had a great day – it was good to see so many people from the business prepared to help out on the day. Thanks to Lauren for organising. And to Craig Tanner, next stop Dunnstown?
Community Relations specialist Melinda Farrell said “Let's hope that these beauties grow and eventually provide shelter, food and essential habitat for the diverse animal species in the environment around our Coldstream Quarry.”
