When did you start with Boral and what attracted you to join us?

I began working at Boral in 2017 after having worked in the contact centre of another concrete company, which I enjoyed. Currently, I am the team leader of the SEQ Concrete Allocations Team. I love my team and the Customer Service Centre. We are the central part of the business, dealing with internal and external customers and stakeholders.

What does a typical day look like?

My daily tasks are highly dependent on the workload. As a member of the team responsible for truck allocation, I work with trucks over a large geographical area- on some days, my job involves allocating trucks, while on others, I focus on process improvement, system testing, generating reports on key performance indicators and truck/plant data, and working on future pre-plans. Additionally, I provide support to the team in making tough decisions and collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine Boral's resource requirements.

What is your favourite part of the job?

The favourite part of my job is coming to work and collaborating with my team every day. It is a challenging job, and in the end, teamwork is what matters the most and yields the best results. As a leader, I take pride in the team I have assembled and the way we all work together.

What do you like the most about working at Boral?

I take great pride in working for Boral. During my tenure, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and forged valuable connections with colleagues across the country. As a result, I have grown as a leader and leveraged this knowledge to drive positive change within my team.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to work in your profession?

Our daily work demands a specific set of skills which my team and I possess. Being good with numbers is crucial. Remaining calm in high-pressure situations is essential for making sound decisions and resolving conflicts. Although many people perceive our industry as male-dominated, there are diverse roles and opportunities available. Knowing your career aspirations will help you explore numerous opportunities and work for an excellent company like Boral.

Who is your female role model?

I don't have a specific role model, but I aspire to be a female role model for both my children and co-workers. It's important to me that I display strong morals and work ethics that others can look up to.

What one piece of advice would you give your 16-year-old self?

Listen to your inner voice as it never lies. Trust your intuition, and you'll be surprised how often it leads you to the right path.
