Earth Exchange is a business managed by the Property team that generates an income by importing clean fill (or dirt) from other excavations to fill our voids and assist with the rehabilitation of our land.
Boral has ongoing obligations to ensure that we manage our quarry sites so that they are rehabilitated in accordance with legislation and Boral’s own rehabilitation guidelines. Where we have quarries located in areas that are near houses or industrial uses such as large-scale warehousing, there may be opportunities for us to rehabilitate our land so that we create a landform that we can build on top of. Our Earth Exchange business does exactly this.
Where a quarry has been identified for redevelopment at the end of its extractive life, our Earth Exchange team will arrange for clean fill to be imported and placed in our quarry voids, to fill this space and create a flat and stable platform for future development opportunities. The Earth Exchange team works directly with contractors who can source clean fill and place this in accordance with our specifications.
