Meet Trent Ross - a Project Manager in our Asphalt team
Trent has been leading operational and sustainability improvements across our Asphalt Victoria sites - here's his story.
In just over five months at our Montrose Plant, Trent increased the use of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) to over 35 per cent, he has expanded the RAP grades we use, more than doubled our RAP feeder speed, reduced RAP delivery to the Pugmill down to just eight seconds, improve recycled glass usage and reduced plant reject stock by more than half as well.
As Project Manager for Boral in Victoria, Trent took on the ambitious task of optimising our Victorian Asphalt plant operations. Our Montrose plant previously produced around 50,000 tonnes of asphalt a year, under Trent’s leadership the facility is now on track to produce 75,000 tonnes this year, with projections to reach 100,000 tonnes in 2025.
Lindsay O’Brien Manufacturing Manager Victoria said of Trent’s progress “Trent has made some very important operational and sustainability improvements, all while maintaining the safety of his team and the quality that Boral is known for.”
“Facing the challenge of enhancing productivity and sustainability without a dedicated site supervisor, Trent stepped into the role himself. Trent transformed our Montrose plant – introducing state-of-the-art control systems and process improvements that significantly increased production capacity, efficiency and sustainability.” Lindsay said.
As well as safety and productivity, Trent has also prioritised sustainability - by integrating recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) into product mixes. Through his deep technical expertise, he has driven an increase in recycled product content from an average of 5 per cent to an impressive 20 per cent. Reducing Boral’s own environmental impact, as well as improving sustainability practices for our customers and the industry as well.
Trent's efforts were not confined to Montrose alone. He’s delivered similar enhancements across multiple facilities in Victoria.
Trent’s leadership in optimising plant operations, enhancing productivity, promoting sustainability, and achieving significant production milestones sets him apart as a trailblazer in the industry. Thank you for Building Something Great Trent.
