For immediate release, Monday 3 March 2025, Sydney: Today Boral Limited (“Boral”) announced the completed acquisition of Sand Supplies Pty Ltd (Sand Supplies), which includes two sand quarries in Victoria, about 100km south-east of Melbourne.
The strategic acquisition of the sites at Glen Forbes and Grantville will provide security of sand supply to Boral and its customers and Boral’s integrated downstream operations. It also sees the continued employment of Sand Supplies’ skilled workers as they transfer to Boral.
Boral’s Executive General Manager, Concrete & Quarries South, Matt McKenzie, said the acquisition will complement the company’s supply of sand, a critical input into downstream production of concrete and asphalt.
“The strategic acquisition of high-quality sand quarries in close proximity to the Melbourne metropolitan area, will complement our Bacchus Marsh and Sandy Creek positions in the west and supplement our Grantville JV supply in the east to meet infrastructure and development needs in Victoria’s capital,” Mr McKenzie said.
“The quarries will play an important role in providing essential construction materials to our vertically integrated operations, that are supplying the key infrastructure projects in the greater Melbourne area.
“Sand Supplies has a proud reputation for quality and service, and we look forward to continuing that tradition as part of Boral.
“Importantly, we welcome the Sand Supplies employees who will continue their employment as part of the Boral team.
“The sites are high-quality and well-established with a large capacity, near a new sand processing plant and long-term sand reserves that will provide security of supply to customers and our integrated business.”
The employees from Glen Forbes and Grantville were welcomed to the Boral team today with activities including a welcome lunch hosted by the company and a visit from Boral’s Executive General Manager, Concrete & Quarries South, Matt McKenzie, Executive General Manager, People and Culture, Sam Toppenberg and General Manager Quarries Victoria, Duncan Harris.
