Cypress Palms is a landmark project in South-East Queensland with uninterrupted views over Surfers Paradise Beach, Burleigh Heads, Main Beach, the Broadwater, and the lush Hinterland. The project features two towers rising 90 and 77 storeys respectively, with the tallest reaching over 300 metres, making it the highest residential building in Queensland.

DBI Architects, known for their work on Meriton’s Iconica project nearby, aim to create a bold and iconic presence, serving as a gateway to the Gold Coast CBD. The design incorporates a “golden spine” that unifies the towers and promises a vibrant and dynamic public realm through podium-level retail, dining, and entertainment spaces. Cypress Palms leverages subtropical principles and street activation to maximise the site's potential, resulting in a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors.

This development marks the beginning of a collaboration between Rockcrete and Meriton, with Boral's Queensland team providing lower carbon concrete and technical support

Project Challenge

The Cypress Palms development aims to create luxurious high-rise residences with unparalleled views and amenities. The challenge was to manage the logistics and coordination for such a large-scale project while ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials. Additionally, the project required high-performance concrete to support the ambitious design and height of the towers.

Boral Solution

Boral supplied a range of high-performance concrete products to bring this ambitious project to life, including our lower carbon concrete product, Envirocrete®. Boral Envirocrete® is a carefully designed lower carbon concrete product that uses various waste materials in the concrete manufacturing process, thereby reducing the overall environmental impact of a project and helping to achieve sustainability goals.

Over the past few months, Boral's South-East Queensland team has worked closely with Rockcrete to provide critical technical advice and material expertise, supporting their successful bid for the project. The development will require approximately 150,000m³ of concrete to complete the towers.

Project Outcomes

The Cypress Palms development is a record-breaking project, with the tallest tower reaching over 300 metres. Rockcrete have recently started construction, with project completion due for 2027.

The scale of the project is matched by its high level of luxury and amenity, including landscaped gardens, BBQ facilities, indoor heated pool and spa, gym and sauna, shops, electric car chargers, and parking. The towers sit atop a subtropical landscaped podium featuring a cascading lagoon-style pool and a waterfall children's play area.

Conclusion

Cypress Palms showcases Boral's capabilities in supporting large-scale residential projects with superior product quality, reliable delivery, and technical expertise. Our sustainable concrete solutions such as Envirocrete® have been entrusted to support innovative luxury projects on the Gold Coast and throughout Australia, while our collaborative approach and technical expertise supports concreters in winning major project bids.

We look forward to seeing this project progress as it becomes the latest addition to the Surfer's Paradise skyline.
