After operating for over 50 years, the relocation of Boral’s Waurn Ponds cement manufacturing plant to a new clinker facility at the Port of Geelong has paved the way for a vibrant new leisure, residential and business precinct for Geelong, Australia’s fastest growing regional city.
Located just over an hour from the Melbourne CBD and perfectly positioned at the gateway to the Great Ocean Road tourism region, the proposed precinct features a major adventure tourism and recreation zone, mixed-use commercial area, business park, warehousing facilities, and regional community infrastructure.
In support of our vision for the site, Geelong City Council recently completed a draft South-West Geelong Employment Land Review that identified the need to investigate the area further to meet existing market demand and support the region’s economic growth.
With the Geelong City Council’s support and Boral’s commitment to repurposing our Waurn Ponds site, the precinct could become a regional destination for leisure, recreation, and a thriving residential neighbourhood.
