Can you name the essential activities lime is used in, without googling them? Lime is one of those things that plays an essential role in our everyday lives, but that many if not most of us, are never aware of. Marulan lime was established in 1968 and supplies the premium hydrated lime that is used to treat the water for many councils in NSW.

This is one of three products produced at Marulan lime from high grade limestone, the other two are quicklime and bulk hydrated lime both of which are used in soil stabilisation, mining and product manufacture. The Marulan site has a Kiln with Preheater and Planetary cooler, a Hydrator with ball Mil and Separator, as well as a 1600t storage silo, with a product dispatch system and bulk bagging plant. These assets mean we can produce the lime, develop the different products and prepare them for delivery.

Like many parts of the construction industry, the Lime business faces the challenge of reducing carbon emissions and also high energy prices. Our decarbonisation journey has seen us reduce the amount of fuel required per ton of lime produced by over 10% during the last year.

Since Marulan Lime was established it has played a key role in,

  1. Supplying lime for soil stabilisation for major road projects

  2. Supplying lime for water treatment to ensure we have safe drinking water

  3. Supplying lime for slag/lime blends used in the mining industry

The plant operates 24/7 with a small team of 17 personnel including operations, maintenance and quality control.

Seeing as the mine which supplies the limestone has got reserves for over 100 years, there’s much more where that came from.

Have you heard of Marulan Lime?
