Western Sydney International (WSI) (Nancy- Bird Walton) Airport will be a full-service airport catering to domestic and international passengers as well as freight services. It is anticipated the first stage will be completed by the end of 2026.
The airport will be developed in stages to meet growing demand, with a second runway projected to be required around 2050. By 2060, WSI Airport is expected to accommodate approximately 82 million passengers annually and become one of the largest gateways to Australia.
The WSI Airport will be the catalyst for much of Western Sydney’s future urbanisation. A brand-new train line and motorway will be built to connect the airport to the rest of Sydney.
Since commencing works in late December of 2021, De Martin & Gasparini (DMG) has been working closely with Multiplex to deliver the new WSI Airport Terminal.
To date, 75,000 cubic metres (m3) of concrete, supplied by the local Boral plants in Bringelly and Prestons, has been poured.
DMG has completed the terminal structure, arrival and departure gates, along with the western and eastern electrical substations, all major milestones.
The team has also been able to secure further landside works for externals, which has commenced in the last three months with pile cap works to canopy walkways and light poles. At the completion of the project, DMG is forecasting a total volume of 90,000m3 will have been supplied and placed.
The team has utilised a methodical approach towards placement to finishing procedures, ensuring the highest quality and standards are achieved.
The DMG team have also stayed focused on prioritising safety by implementing and maintaining the Boral Way.
