International Women’s Day is recognised on the 8th March each year.
It’s a day to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women and to raise awareness of action required to accelerate gender equality.
At Boral we continue to build a more diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and able to reach their full potential.
This year’s IWD theme ‘Count her in: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress’ had some synergies with the progress we have made as part of our Good to Great journey, but also acknowledging the work that remains ahead in this area.
During the past year, we have updated our leave, flex and recruitment policies and
practices to remove unintended bias. We’ve reviewed our remuneration gap, introduced domestic and family violence leave to our business, and introduced organisational gender targets to increase the representation of women who work for Boral from 14 to 15 per cent.
We’ve held female driving academies to highlight the opportunities and worthwhile careers we offer in our business. We’ve changed our recruiting and sourcing practices to mitigate against bias and ensure a more diverse pool of candidates.
This year we celebrated IWD through a variety of activities that ranged from site and office events, morning teas, afternoon teas and breakfasts, to an IWD panel discussion and a focus on the woman of Boral through our social media activity.
