We were extremely proud to be part of the Victorian Government’s recent partnership with the community housing sector in delivering a $23.6 million social housing complex in the north-west Melbourne suburb of St Albans.

Once the site of a single three-bedroom home, the location now features 53 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes providing accommodation for up to 100 people in need, including First Nations women and women fleeing the increasing issue of family violence.

Boral joined forces with Victorian construction company Paul Caelli Formwork (PCF) on the 7,987sqm development, with the remarkable building featuring five suspended floors and a single level basement.

Each apartment achieved a seven-star energy rating – which will help residents reduce power consumption and save on their bills over time.

“We value and appreciate the contributions of each team member in this partnership, as we work together on community projects.”

Paul Caelli, Managing Director, PCF

Daniel Bettiol, Field Sales Manager - Commercial Concrete and Quarries Victoria said the project involved a competitive tender process. “Over the 19 months of the project, the Boral commercial concrete team worked collaboratively with teams across the business to make sure the project went smoothly, and we delivered safely and on time at each step of the way” he said.

The homes are also conveniently located near social services such as schools, hospitals and public transport so that the residents can easily access services and aren’t loaded with the financial burden that can come with being far away from the support services they rely on.

A project of this size in this kind of location meant our team and the client needed to carefully coordinate across the project to minimise impact on nearby residents.

Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this great community asset.

”There’s nothing more important than making sure everyone has a home, so it’s wonderful to be able to deliver housing for women who need it most, right here in St Albans.”
