Located in the southwest suburbs of Geelong, Waurn Ponds cement manufacturing plant was operational for over 50 years. The recent relocation of its cement manufacturing operations to a new clinker facility at the Port of Geelong has paved the way for the Waurn Ponds site to be rejuvenated.

The rejuvenation project has been designed to create a vibrant hub of activity that will support the economic growth of Geelong. The proposed precinct will feature a major adventure tourism and recreation precinct, mixed-use commercial precinct, business park with iconic convention and events centre, warehousing, and regional community infrastructure. These developments will support a range of employment opportunities in the area and provide access to much needed residential housing.

The Geelong City Council has recognised the potential of the Waurn Ponds site and recently completed a draft South-West Geelong Employment Land Review which identified the need to investigate the area further to meet existing market demand.

The project provides a major opportunity to create a vibrant hub of activity that will support the economic growth of the region. With Boral's commitment to repurposing the site and the Geelong City Council's support, the precinct could become a regional destination for leisure and recreation, and a thriving residential neighbourhood. The possibilities are endless, and Boral is excited to be at the forefront of this exciting regeneration project, and is committed to building something great for the Geelong community.
