The Montrose Family Open Day was a fantastic opportunity to bring employees, their families, and our local community together for a day of fun, learning, and connection. More than just an event, the day highlighted the long-standing history of our Montrose Quarry while giving our community an inside look at our operations and the important role we play in the region.

A standout attraction was the Montrose History Room, which showcased an incredible collection of photos, historical equipment, and memorabilia. It became a place of reflection, sparking fond memories for many and reinforcing our deep local roots dating back to the 1950s. The event also provided a great platform for our employees to engage with local residents, fostering stronger relationships and a mutual understanding of our work.

With temperatures soaring to 36 degrees, it was a hot one but that didn’t stop over 200 residents from enjoying the day. Families explored the site, learned about quarry operations, and made lasting memories.

Local resident Tim Rolfe, who attended with his son Reggi, shared his experience, “It was great, and Reggi had an awesome time! He still talks about it.”

Another guest summed up the day perfectly: Honestly, I think the day was fantastic. Good food and drink options, and enough things for kids of all ages. I found it super interesting as well, and would’ve enjoyed it, even without a toddler!

At the end of the day Matt McKenzie had a message for the team behind the event. ”A huge thank you to everyone who made the Montrose Family Open Day such a success. It was a great reminder of the connection we have across our team, but also in the community as well."
