Describe your job and qualifications.

As a Concrete Agitator Truck Driver I am responsible for the safe and efficient loading, delivery and unloading of concrete to our customers, as well as maintaining the presentation of the truck and ancillary equipment.

Self-presentation and representation of Boral is part of each drivers responsibility & handled with pride.   I hold the appropriate driver permits to obtain the ability to drive the truck, training completed at Boral’s Driver Academy training program.

What does a typical day look like?

The joys and benefits of working as a driver are endless. My days are always filled with challenges and upmost support to best handle them. Customer service, safety, and delivery of quality products to our customers are very important.

What do you like the most about working at Boral?

I like that I work in a team that are respectful and helpful on-site and we treat everyone fairly.  I like the team I work with actively practice behaviours and attributes that build a foundation of trust and bring out the best in each other on a day to day basis. I like that the team that I work with whom hold safety to high regard and actively practice safety focused behaviours and are committed to zero harm on-site incidents.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to work in your profession?

I would most defiantly advise anyone thinking of becoming an "agi driver" to do it.  I am in my forties and it is the best thing I have done. The people I have met along this journey, the things and experiences I have gained are priceless. A great team and support has been one of the things that caught my love of this career path.

Who is your female role model?

I would have to say my female role model is Justin Flynn. Justine, along with her husband Daniel and friend Jarryd Burns, started their organisation called “Thankyou” and commenced selling bottled water in 2008 to give communities in developing nations access to clean drinking water. They expanded to body care and food products to fund sanitation and food delivery projects and have just entered into New Zealand and the baby market. When they started their business they discovered that almost 1 billion people didn’t have access to safe drinking water. Thanks to their work, and others, that number has decreased to just over 600,000 people. Thankyou now stocks water, food, body care and baby products and has given over $5.5 million to water, sanitation, food and child and maternal health projects in 20 countries.

What’s one piece of advice would you give your 16 year old self?

The best price of advice I would give my younger self would be to always stay true to who you are and never allow others opinions to influence your life path choices. Do what makes your soul happy.
