- It can also be used where a lower drying shrinkage is required
- Shrinkage Limited Cement is commonly used in general and major construction projects and specialised applications such as concrete road construction
Application / Use
- Shrinkage Limited Cement can replace General Purpose (GP) Cement in all applications and should be used where a lower drying shrinkage is required
- Shrinkage Limited Cement is commonly used in general and major construction projects and specialised applications such as concrete road construction
General Purpose Cement
General Purpose Cement complies with AS 3972, type GP. GP Cement is manufactured from Portland cement clinker and gypsum and up to 5 percent of AS 3972 approved additions.
This cement was previously known as Type “A” cement and has been widely used for many years.
Features & Benefits
A general purpose Portland cement conforming to AS 3972 for type GP cement.
General Purpose Cement is a cost effective, high quality building material providing versatility suited to most building and construction applications, except where special properties are required.
Typical applications include:
- Concrete slabs
- Driveways
- Mortars for brick and block work
- Grouts
- Adhesives
- columnilisation where chemical attack is not a predicted risk
Application / Use & Range
General concrete applications:
- Exposure to weak acids
- Exposure to soft water
- Exposure to sulphates < 600 mg/l
- Coloured concrete
Off White Cement
Off White Cement is a general purpose cement complying with AS 3972, type GP. Off White Cement is produced from a specially manufactured light coloured Portland cement clinker which provides the unique colour of this cement.
Features & Benefits
- Produces a high strength, light coloured mortar that highlights the texture and tones of modern bricks
- Aesthetically pleasing colours can be used to highlight and complement the natural colours of selected sands and aggregate
- In mortars and concrete, it can be used to highlight and complement the natural colours of selected sands and aggregates
- Broadens the scope for attractive treatment in exposed aggregate work and terrazzo
- In locations where light, coloured bricklaying sands are price competitive with "normal" bricklaying sands Off White may be used to produce a coloured mortar
- When used in oxide coloured concrete or mortar the use of Off White cement improves the intensity of the colour and/or allows a reduction in the quantity of the oxide added
Application / Use & Range
- Off White Cement is compatible with admixtures complying with AS 1478. Some admixtures may affect the consistency of the concrete colour or cause staining. Refer to your admixture supplier for advice
- Off White Cement is combined with selected sands, aggregates and oxides to provide a wide range of attractive architectural finishes in brick and blockwork mortar, rendering, exposed aggregate pavements, panels and terrazzo
Range:
- Bulk cement
- Bulk bags
- 20kg bags

Marine Cement
Marine Cement complies with AS3972, special purpose cement, type LH/SR. It is manufactured from the ingredients of specially selected cement clinker, gypsum and ground granulated blast furnace slag, combining the benefits of significantly lower heat evolution and greater sulphate, chloride and salt water resistance.
Features & Benefits
- Marine Cement complies with AS 3972, type LH/SR
- Significantly lower heat evolution, greater sulphate, chloride and salt water resistance
Application / Use & Range
- Marine Cement may be used in marine applications, in mass concrete where reduced heat liberation is important or in aggressive sulphate-rich environments where increased resistance to salt attack is required
High Early Strength Cement
High Early Strength Cement is a special purpose cement complying with AS 3972, type HE. It is manufactured from specially prepared Portland cement clinker and gypsum. High Early Strength Cement is more finely ground than Shrinkage Limited Cement, but is chemically similar.
Features & Benefits
- High Early Strength Cement is more finely ground than Shrinkage Limited (SL) cement, but is chemically similar.
- High Early Strength Cement is a special purpose cement complying with AS 3972-2010, type HE.
Application / Use & Range
- General concrete applications
- Concrete masonry
- Precast concrete elements
- High early strength concrete
- Construction - cold weather

Low Heat Cement
Low Heat Cement complies with Australian Standard 3972, special purpose type LH. It is manufactured from the ingredients of specially selected cement clinker, gypsum and ground granulated blast furnace slag, which result in significantly lower heat generation during the process of hydration than in a typical Portland cement.
Features & Benefits
- Low Heat Cement complies with AS 3972, special purpose type LH/SR. Significantly lower heat generation during the process of hydration than the comparable Portland cement.
Application / Use & Range
- Blue Circle® LH Cement is recommended for use in mass concrete where reduced heat liberation is important
Sulphate Resisting Cement
Sulphate Resisting (SR) Cement complies with AS3972, Special Purpose Cement, type SR. It is manufactured from the ingredients of specially selected cement clinker, gypsum and ground granulated blast furnace slag, which result in significantly better sulphate resistance and lower heat liberation than that of a comparable Portland cement.
Features & Benefits
- Sulphate Resisting Cement complies with AS 3972, type LH/SR
- Combines the benefits of significantly lower heat evolution, greater sulphate, chloride and salt water resistance
Application / Use & Range
- Sulphate Resisting Cement is recommended for use in aggressive sulphate-rich environments where increased resistance to salt attack is required. Where concrete is expected to be in contact with sulphates or other aggressive salts or solutions, analytical surveys must be completed and appropriate grade of concrete selected
- Sulphate Resisting Cement can also be used in mass concrete where reduced heat liberation is required. As with Portland cements, the resistance to acid solutions is limited, but concrete life expectancy will be maximised by using Sulphate Resisting Cement at high cement content and low water to cement ratio in fully compacted and cured concrete
