In September, over 300 people descended on our Orange Grove Quarry in Western Australia for a fun and family-friendly Open Day.

Attendees enjoyed bus rides around the quarry operations, an informative environmental stall and a simulator that gave people the experience of driving a truck. Tastebuds were also satisfied by a delicious sausage sizzle and a cake stall courtesy of the local primary school.

Kids were treated to face painting, a bouncy castle, and a make-your-own rock pet experience, and everyone enjoyed the black cockatoo display including a Baudin’s Black Cockatoo, an endangered species.

With a lovely 23-degree Celsius day and the sunshining the free Boral caps were also very popular.

Usually an annual event, as part of the Orange Grove Environmental Management Plan, this was the first Open Day to be held in three years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The day went without a hitch thanks to the hard work of the organisers and volunteers including Quarry Managers and our Call Centre, OH and S,Environment, Maintenance, Operations and Administrative teams.
