Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project update

We’ve spoken about our work at Australia’s newest International Airport before – with Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport getting ready to serve 10 million passengers a year once it opens in 2026.

What you may not have heard about, is our involvement in another big transport infrastructure project in Western Sydney.

The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project is a 23-kilometre railway from St Marys to the Aerotropolis. It’s being billed as the “transport spine” for Greater Western Sydney, servicing the new Airport and Greater Western Sydney.

There’ll be six new Metro stations - St Marys, Orchard Hills, Luddenham, Airport Business Park, The Airport Terminal, and Aerotropolis. The project also involves a stabling and maintenance facility at Orchard Hills.

Boral will be providing 260,000m3 of concrete to build the stations, tunnels, and the stabling and maintenance facility over the next two years with mobile plants being established at Orchard Hills and Airport Business Park.

Our teams have been busy establishing our two newest mobile plants and they are set to kick-start operations later this year.

Congratulations to everyone involved in getting us too this point, we’re almost ready for take-off!
