Boral worked together with Adelaide Airport to increase the size of its southern apron to provide more room for aircraft parking to meet a forecasted increase in flights.
Adelaide Airport’s 20,000-square-metre expansion of the southern apron boosted the airport’s capacity to host more flights with parking for four planes.
Boral worked with Adelaide Airport and Lendlease during the early planning phase to ensure the matching of the new and existing pavements. In addition, the project required working within restricted pavement areas with multiple contractors, tight project tolerances and variable weather.
Boral's prior involvement in several projects at the airport including the main runway extension taxiways, provided a good understanding of the management systems and protocols for works at Adelaide Airport.
