The Gateway Upgrade Project included duplication of the Gateway Bridge and upgrading 19 kilometres of motorway.
The Gateway Bridge is a concrete cantilever box girder design that is 1.6 kilometres long with the longest span at 260 metres, and a design life of 300 years. The Gateway Upgrade Project provided motorists a more reliable transport corridor from Nudgee through to the Pacific Highway and included a northern entry into Brisbane Airport. The establishment of mobile plant on-site allowed Boral to directly deliver asphalt to the new alignment with minimal disruption to motorists.
