The $1 billion Gateway WA project was the largest road project undertaken by Main Roads Western Australia and involved upgrades to the Tonkin and Leach highways and an interchange and the construction of four new interchanges.
The Gateway WA Perth Airport and Freight Access Project was a combination of upgrades to the Tonkin and Leach highways and four new grade-separated interchanges. It features 165 kilometres of new road lanes, 21 kilometres of shared path for pedestrians and cyclists and the widening of Tonkin Highway to three lanes in each direction. The $1 billion road development was designed to improve safety and efficiency in an important transport hub.
Boral received the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association's Most Outstanding Western Australian Project Award in 2016 for our work on Gateway WA.
