The Regional Rail Link was a $3.65 billion project that separated the metropolitan and regional train lines in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
The $3.65 billion Regional Rail Link features 47.5 kilometres of dedicated tracks for the Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong trains. This allows travel through the metropolitan system from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne’s CBD without interruption by suburban trains.
Boral successfully supplied construction materials to this significant, complex and large-scale rail infrastructure project through our integrated position and effective supply chain
Also, new stations were built at Tarneit and Wyndham Vale, stations rebuilt at West Footscray and Sunshine and more platforms constructed at Southern Cross and Footscray as part of the project.
The project was the winner of the Australian Construction Achievement Award 2015 and Infrastructure Project of the Year 2014.
