Our ACT Quarries business continues to kick some fantastic goals. Off the back of securing multiple subdivision works and continued external fixed plant works, September’s result had everyone searching for the record books. In that month alone, ACT Quarries supplied 115,000 tonnes into the Canberra market which was a fantastic result and an amazing 145 per cent of budget.
These kinds of results don’t happen without a terrific team effort. Quarry Manager Jason McCamish and his operational staff have left no stone unturned in helping our ‘effervescent’ Account Manager Deb Bowman service all our customer’s requirements.
The achievement would also not be possible without dedicated support from Technical & Logistics. Seeing everyone come together and understand their role and the impact they can create was phenomenal.
The communication involved in making this happen and keeping the quarries balanced which means making sure we have the right amount of aggregate for the products we are selling and takes considerable effort.
On the back of this, Jason and his team have been very committed to listening to our customers and we now have rail ballast being sold out of our Mugga Quarry, precoat aggregates available again and some traction in the recycled marketplace with a new DGS20 (Densely Graded Subbase) getting rave reviews.
The team are confident that with the time they have spent on continuous improvement and product evolvement for our customers, the successes are set to continue.
Congratulations to the ACT Quarries team for a fantastic all-round effort - long may it continue.
“I cannot stress how proud I am to be managing such a great team across the Mugga and Hall quarries. The desire for improvement and success is shown through their willingness and agility to align our operations with the current market demand, exceeding everyone’s expectations whilst delighting our customers with great service and products.”
