Our Widemere team are ready to rock 'n' roll, with the exciting delivery of a brand-new CAT 336 excavator!
The Widemere Recycling facility, located in Wetherill Park, Sydney, has been a cornerstone of our recycling efforts since 2002. As Boral's largest recycling centre in NSW, the site plays a crucial role in producing a range of building and construction products by separating, crushing, and blending recovered construction and demolition (C&D) wastes.
Today, the team welcomed a new arrival as part of our fleet upgrade of Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) assets. The new CAT 336 excavator is a powerful 36-tonne machine with advanced technology that will significantly enhance our site's productivity and efficiency.
This excavator features a reach boom of 6.5 meters and a bucket capacity of up to 2.27 m³. The maximum digging depth is around 7.57 meters, and it has a maximum reach at ground level of about 11.33 meters.
The CAT 336 also boasts semi-autonomous digging capabilities and other technological advancements such as advanced hydraulic systems, real-time data monitoring, and improved fuel efficiency. It meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emission standards, ensuring it is environmentally friendly.
Westrac were on-site to assist with the delivery, training and handover of the new equipment. The advanced technology and impressive capabilities of the CAT 336 will not only improve the efficiency of our recycling processes but also provide our team with the best tools to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
This addition is part of our broader Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) rollout, which has seen significant investments in new and upgraded assets across Australia. In the first 4 months of this year alone, we have welcomed 18 new HME assets across Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales. This rollout is set to accelerate, with over 140 new HME assets scheduled for delivery throughout 2025.
