Boral Montrose Quarry hosted a site tour for 72 people as part of the Victorian Women in Quarrying event.
In 2014 a group of 20 Queensland women knew that there was an underrepresentation of women in the extractive industry and formed a “Women in Quarrying” networking event. That small event kickstarted the official Women in Quarrying initiative from Australia’s professional quarrying industry body, the Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA).
Together with the support of partners like Boral, the IQA has been working hard to support and encourage women to join and grow their careers in the sector.
